Evenings offers two opportunities for potential interns; Evenings College and Evenings Institute. Potential interns desiring to receive solid Bible training to equip them for life and ministry, but need the flexibility of less requirements, will enjoy being a part of our Evenings Institute. These interns have the opportunity to receive up to thirty two (32) college credit hours and more. Interns who feel called to full-time ministry and/or missions, or really want extensive Bible training have the opportunity to pursue both, an Associate in Biblical Studies and a Bachelor in Applied Theology through Evenings. The requirements are a bit more extensive and the cost a bit more, but well worth the training and access one will receive.
The school year is divided into three Trimesters. Each Trimester, interns take two accredited courses on Tuesday nights. For each course interns receive a syllabi and required books to read by the Professor. Interns also serve throughout Healing Place Churches campuses throughout the year. Interns submit the ministry or campus they desire to serve under at the beginning of the first Trimester. Interns unsure of which ministry to serve under may meet with a Healing Place School of Ministry staff for guidance, and they will assist with placement according to the interns' gifts, passions, and the need of the church. Interns may choose to serve within a ministry or campus during the week and/or serve at one of Healing Place Church's campuses' weekend services. Evenings College interns will serve at services on the weekends and intern within a ministry during the week to meet course requirements and receive the hands-on experience needed to equip them for a future in ministry.
The Evenings College is designed for interns who want to be equipped for long-term ministry and need the flexibility of attending classes in the evening. Interns desiring to pursue a vocation in ministry will find this as a great option to receive the knowledge and training necessary for longevity and direction in ministry. The classes and hands-on training are structured to equip interns for ministry by offering: Bible classes, ministry driven classes, and hands-on ministry experience. Interns can receive an accredited Associate degree in two years and Bachelor in four years, all while mostly only attending classes on Tuesday nights. Interns will have access to assimilation and placement beyond Healing Place School of Ministry upon the completion of the Evenings College, and have the opportunity to receive hands-on ministry and training from leaders, missionaries and pastors with years of experience and from around the world.
The Evenings Institute is designed for interns who desire further challenge in their spiritual journey, accountability, a biblical foundation, access to Christian leaders from around the world, and training in ministry. Whether for the ministry they serve under in the church and for living a life of significance in their home and work environment, interns will acquire a foundation of influence in their world through the Evenings Institute. Interns have the opportunity to experience the same incredible classes as the Evenings College, but at a lesser cost and with lesser requirements per course.
The Missions Institute is designed for interns who feel called to any of the following areas: serving oversees as a missionary, planning short term missions trips, coordinating, planning and supporting missions through the local church. At this time no credit hours are distributed for these classes, however, interns will receive a Certificate in Missions from Healing Place School of Ministry upon completion of the Requirements below, and may apply for the Go Global Internship upon final approval from the Dean of Healing Place School of Ministry and the Missions Coordinator. College and Institute interns may apply at the beginning of any year for the Missions Institute. Full-time interns will attend these seminars as part of their coursework for the Missions Stream.
The Pastoring Institute is designed for those who are exploring the calling to pastor a campus, and offers the opportunity to begin the journey and training to build up skills that are necessary to be an ARC or Healing Place Church campus pastor. Interns will be required to go through at least one year of Healing Place School of Ministry before applying for the Pastoring Institute, unless recommended by a Healing Place Church pastor, and must be accepted into the Institute by Healing Place School of Ministry Staff.
The Pastoring Institute offers one year of training, with 1 course each Trimester, for a total of 3 courses. Full-time interns will have the option of taking these 3 courses in the place of 2 Life Experience courses in their second year. Evening interns may choose to take these courses on the College or Institute level, but must take these 3 courses in addition to their regular Degree program. College level interns will receive 2 credit hours per course, and Institute level interns will receive 1 credit hour per course. See Tuition and Fees for cost. Graduates of the Pastoring Institute may also apply for open positions in the ARC upon final approval from the Healing Place School of Ministry staff.
Healing Place School of Ministry runs from August to May each year.
Whichever option an intern pursues in Healing Place School of Ministry, the completion of each year provides the intern with an accredited degree or accredited credit hours towards a degree, plus extensive hands-on ministry experience in a diversity of ministry settings. Whether interns are moved into a full-time ministry capacity or remain in a secular business vocation, the experience and education they are exposed to is invaluable. Since each intern applies for a variety of reasons, the end result benefits differ for each person.
Since 2003, Healing Place School of Ministry has had 125 graduates. Of these graduates, two are now serving in a long term capacity overseas, seventeen are currently serving on church staff at Healing Place Church, many are leading in different capacities of church life, others have been equipped to make a difference in the secular business world, and some are pursing overseas opportunities or future campus plants.
Furthermore, Healing Place School of Ministry has grown even more strategic over the past year in its implementation of enabling interns to be launched into long term positions to serve the calling of God on their life and serve the will of God through the local church. Through our affiliates, specifically ARC (relatedchurches.com) and Go Global (goglobalmissions.com), interns have the opportunity to be referred for positions in US church plants and overseas mission organizations. Interns have opportunities to focus on receiving specialized training for full-time vocational ministry, for the purpose of solely gaining Biblical knowledge, or finding their place to serve within the local church.
Besides the established opportunities to navigate interns after they finish, interns have an accredited degree and solid ministry experience which opens the door for them to pursue further collegiate and graduate level education, apply in any ministry environment, and/or to serve equipped in the ministry God has for them in their local church. There are numerous options for interns after their completion and our staff works side by side the interns to discern the next step beyond Healing Place School of Ministry.
